Tadoba National Park

Situated in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra state in central India, Tadoba is the largest & oldest National Park in Maharashtra. Created in 1955, it is one of India’s project tiger reserves existing in India and plays an important role as a functionary of Project Tiger. Tadoba National Park has diverse landscape with Beautiful Valleys, The park spreads over an area of 625.4 square kilometers with dense forest, Smooth Meadows, along with heavily forested hills ranging from 200 m to 350 m which make up its scenic boundaries. The terrain of Tadoba is filled with bamboo thickets and dense woodlands. Deciduous forest dominates and is witnessed throughout the protected region. The reserve is also famed for its wetland areas which include the Kolsa Lake, Andhari River as well as Tadoba Lake where one can witness a good number of Mugger crocodiles. A network of man-made water holes and two major lakes in the park provide perfect hunting grounds for birds and tigers.

The Trip starts on Day 01 (Saturday) from Nagpur and ends on day 06 (Thursday) at Nagpur.

Special Guidelines to Book Game drives / Safaris

As per the latest guidelines issued by India wildlife authorities some changes have been made to book any game drive in the park. To reduce the pressure from the park, forest department have reduced the number of jeeps for these game drives, therefore, these drives needs to be booked & paid well in advance. These game drives once booked & paid are non refundable. In order to book these game drives names of all the clients are required along with their latest Passport details. No name change is permitted at later stage once its booked. The park official checks each client’s passport at the park gate while getting in for safari. If you apply for a new passport after booking your game drives, please carry your old passport as well.

Due to these changes in our booking system we strongly suggest you to book these Tiger trips at least 3 – 4 months in advance. We book tickets for all passengers as soon as permits become available, usually 3 months prior to the date of actual game drive.

Day 01: Arrival Nagpur (by train or flight in the morning from Delhi / Mumbai) and transfer to Tadoba NP

Arrive Nagpur and drive by surface to Tadova National Park (3 hrs drive). Afternoon is free to have some time off as the next 4 days we will be busy doing 7 drives without any much break. We stay in a lodge, situated close to Mohurli gate of the park. Home to the Royal Bengal tigers, wild mammals and many species of birds, Tadoba is bounded by densely forested hills on the northern and the western side. This park shines and provides security to endangered animals that refuge in the various cliffs and caves spread throughout the region. The park is a treasure trove of threatened species and has earned the distinction as the jewel in the state’s crown. The name ‘Tadoba’ is derived from the name of God “Tadoba” whereas “Andhari” is derived from the mesmerizing Andhari River which meanders through the forest. Tadoba Tiger reserve is one of the best kept secrets among the famous wildlife sanctuaries of India. Upon arrival, transfer and check into the hotel. (Dinner)

Day 02: Tadoba National Park (Morning & afternoon game drive)

Early in the morning we go for our first game drive by jeep and have another one later in the afternoon.

Around 65 species of mammals can be spotted in these thick forests of Tadoba e.g. leopard, Sloth Bear, Gaur, wild dog, lesser cats, several deer, antelope species, etc. Sighting of Royal Bengal Tiger and Marsh crocodile, offers a welcome surprise for photographers as well as for wildlife lovers and enthusiasts. After the jungle safari, we return to the hotel and have breakfast after which we get 3 – 4 hrs free time to relax. Later in the afternoon we proceed for our second game drive into the park after. In the evening, we drive back to the hotel and freshen up before we have the dinner. (B/Fast & dinner)

Day 03: Tadoba National Park (Morning & afternoon game drive)

We will again wake up early in the morning and will move out for our third jungle safari (game drive) into the park. In Tadoba, over 195 species of birds have been recorded. The birds found in this National Park include changeable hawk eagle, crested serpent eagle, crested tree swift, grey headed fish eagle, lesser golden backed woodpecker and orange-headed thrush. The enchanting peacock has got the status of celebrity among all of them. After the jungle safari, we return to the hotel and have breakfast, served in the restaurant. Later, we leave for our fourth game drive in the afternoon.. In the evening, we come back to the hotel and freshen up before taking the dinner. (B/Fast & dinner)

Day 04: Tadoba National Park (Morning game drive in buffer zone & afternoon free)

Today being Tuesday the park is closed (only the Core area), however we will have one morning game drive in the buffer zone as there is good chance to encounter different tigers and other wildlife. Afternoon is free to relax or can go for village / nature walk in the nearby surroundings. (B/Fast & dinner)

Day 05: Tadoba National Park (Morning & afternoon game drive)

Today we enjoy the last two game drives into the park both morning & evening. We leave once again early in the morning in the park. Tadoba reserve is a predominantly tropical Dry Deciduous Forest. Predominant tree species in these forests are teak which is found in abundance along with Bamboo Thickets, Dhauda, Salai, Semal, Tendu, Arjun and Black Plum Trees. We come back to lodge after the morning safari and have breakfast. Later in the afternoon we will have our last safari in the park. Evening dinner in the lodge. (B/Fast & dinner)

Day 06: Tadoba, departure transfer to Nagpur airport

After breakfast, we will check out from the hotel and drive to Nagpur airport. Catch flight to Delhi / Mumbai for International connections. (Breakfast)
