Located in the Hoshangabad district of Madhya Pradesh, Satpura National Park lies in the Mahadeo Hills of the Satpura range and is an ideal destination for anyone who is a keen photographer & wildlife enthusiast. It covers an area of 1427 sq kms. The park’s name is derived from the Satpura range where the altitude ranges from 300 to 1,352 metres, having Dhupgarh peak as high as 1,352 metres which is the highest point located in Pachmarhi (popularly known as Queen of Satpura). Satpura is a park attracted by many wildlife enthusiasts due to the diversity of wildlife activities permitted in the park like scenic boat safaris, elephant rides, guided walks, jeep safaris as well as night time safaris in the buffer forest. The park is a great place to be with the nature because the fascinating cascading waterfalls, deep valleys, dense forests, narrow gorges, perennial streams and rich vegetation of the park represent nature at its best.

The Trip starts on Day 01 (Saturday) from Bhopal and ends on day 06 (Thursday) at Bhopal.

Special Guidelines to Book Game drives / Safaris

As per the latest guidelines issued by India wildlife authorities some changes have been made to book any game drive in the park. To reduce the pressure from the park, forest department have reduced the number of jeeps for these game drives, therefore, these drives needs to be booked & paid well in advance. These game drives once booked & paid are non refundable. In order to book these game drives names of all the clients are required along with their latest Passport details. No name change is permitted at later stage once its booked. The park official checks each client’s passport at the park gate while getting in for safari. If you apply for a new passport after booking your game drives, please carry your old passport as well.

Due to these changes in our booking system we strongly suggest you to book these Tiger trips at least 3 – 4 months in advance. We book tickets for all passengers as soon as permits become available, usually 3 months prior to the date of actual game drive.

Note: During our stay at Satpura jungle lodge we will be doing two jungle activities on each day such as jeep safari / Canoe trip / boat safari / jungle walk / elephant safari.

Jeep Safari: Guests are escorted by our lodge’s naturalist in a jeep till the water body (Denwa River) that marks the boundary of the Park. Forest department boats run a shuttle service to transfer people to Madhai (the park entrance). From Madhai, our crew will attempt to deliver a truly exhilarating experience filled with insightful knowledge on the flora and fauna that is indigenous to the Satpura Tiger Reserve.

Elephant Safaris: Elephant Safaris are also an interesting and more adventurous way of experiencing the forest. Elephants in the park are well trained and these beautiful animals by nature are extremely intelligent. They can take you several places where a jeep cannot, especially, off the beaten track, providing an excellent platform for opportunities of deep learning and understanding of the biosphere.

Boat Safari: Boat rides and safaris are another unique activity at the Satpura Tiger Reserve. The Denwa river which flows into the mammoth tawa dam some 16 Km downstream, attracts several bird species and is home to a number of Indian Fresh Water Crocodile. Patrons can enjoy the majestic view of the Satpura Range of Hills while enjoying a leisurely boat cruise.

Nature Walk: A Nature walk within the Satpura Tiger Reserve is an activity unique to this park. People can visit the core- area of the park on foot and become one with the forest. In terms of a learning experience this activity is unmatched as our naturalists along with the forest guides intend to track Tigers, Leopards, Sloth Bear and other resident animals as an when an opportunity arises. The feeling of being in the jungle with no separation between wildlife and oneself is truly exhilarating and is an experience any wildlife enthusiast would cherish.

Day 01: Arrival Bhopal (by train or flight in the morning from Delhi / Mumbai) and transfer to Satpura NP

Arrive in Bhopal and drive by surface to Satpura National Park (145 kms) about 3 – 4 hrs drive. Satpura National.

Park is less known than other sanctuaries, however with magnificent unspoiled forest and a much more balanced array of wildlife, this is an absolute gem of a park. Situated in the southern parts of the Central State of Madhya Pradesh, the terrain of Satpura national park is extremely rugged. Although tiger sightings are not common, birding is excellent in & around the park, heading out in the park gives the chance to look out for some rarely seen species. This is a perfect destination for those who are looking for a wildlife holiday in central India and who want to spend some quality time in the wilderness. On arrival check in the resort and afternoon free. (Lunch & dinner)

In Satpura National Park, it is a privilege to have a chance to see animals such as Hyena, Leopard, Rhesus Macaque, Sloth Bear, Nilgai, Pangolin, Porcupine, Honey Badger, Wild Boar, Palm Civet etc. The wolves and the wild dogs prowl the park and can be seen in groups hunting prey.
